Number of stunting cases averted
The number of stunting cases averted were calculated by age cohorts in every calendar year. If an 18-month-old stunted child receives intervention in the first year of scale up (Year i) and becomes healthy. The model counts it as one stunting case averted among 12-23 months children in Year i. From Year i+1 to Year i+3, the child’s stunting status enter the calculations again among 24-59 months
If the child maintains the healthy status, the model will also count it as one stunting case averted among 24-59 months children every year from Year i+1 to Year i+3. Therefore it is not appropriate to add up numbers across calendar years and interpret the sum as total number of stunting cases averted among children 1-59 months. The correct interpretation for the sum is total stunting-years averted among children 1-59 months.
Number of anemia cases prevented
To estimate the cumulative number of anemia cases prevented among pregnant women, user can select the result--“Number of anemia cases prevented”. For pregnant women, since different groups of women become pregnant every calendar year, user can add up numbers across calendar years to get cumulative number of anemia cases prevented. For non-pregnant women, since same group of women remained non-pregnant every calendar year, to get a rough estimate of the sum, users should apply the reduction in prevalence of anemia to the total population of non-pregnant women. |
